Network Changes - July '24

From Sunday 28th July, there were changes to our Essex network, including new routes, enhancements and amendments to existing routes, and routes which will be served by another bus operator.

New Routes

We introduced the following bus routes to our network. There are brilliant opportunities for those commuting to work, students travelling to college or Uni, teenagers looking to get out and about with out relying on a family member, enjoyable Great Days Out By Bus and the introduction of the £2 single fare on the 22!

11 Highwoods – Colchester North Station We will now be operating this route which was previously operated by First Essex. Journeys will operate up to every 20 minutes in peak times (early morning and late afternoon/early evening) Monday-Friday.

Whether your a hybrid worker, a few days in the office or 5 days a week - this route is ideal for commuters!

14 The Hythe – Colchester – Stanway This was previously operated by First Essex as route 4. Journeys will run hourly Monday-Friday.   Click here to view
22 Harwich Town Service We were now be operating this route which was previously operated by Panther Travel as route 2.  You can now take advantage of the £2 single fare on this route or buy a bundle of 10 tickets on the app! Click here to view
40 Witham Town Service We will now be operating this route, previously operated by First Essex. Journeys run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.   Click here to view
74B Colchester – Clacton Previously operated by First Essex, this route runs Monday-Saturday evening journeys. Buses will now start and finish at Pier Avenue in Clacton. Evening journeys will depart from Clacton at 19:15 and 21:15 and from Colchester at 20:10 and 22:10.

76 Colchester – Clacton This *Sunday*  route was previously operated by First Essex. Combined with our current 74 Sunday timetable, this will provide an hourly Sunday and Bank Holiday service. In Clacton, journeys will now start and finish at Pier Avenue. Passengers can now travel between city and coast 7 days a week for Great Days Out By Bus or extra study time at the university! And for only £2 each way!

Enhanced and Amended Routes

Following feedback from our passengers and our own commercial reviews, we made amendments to some of our existing routes to improve punctuality and efficiency for our passengers. These include enhanced Sunday services and additional journeys! Check the table below for further information:

4 Great Clacton – Clacton – Jaywick Evening journeys between Great Clacton and Clacton will run as route 136A. Evening journeys between Jaywick and Clacton will continue to operate as route 4. Evening journeys on route 4 will follow the same route as the daytime journeys to Martello beach, running along Meadow Way. Click here to view
5 Flatford Drive – Clacton Revised Sunday timetable in operation to improve punctuality. The first journey will depart Cooper Lane Shops at 09:11. Click here to view
6/6A/6B Point Clear – Clacton Revised Sunday timetable in operation to fulfil demand. Journeys every 2 hours which will run as the 6B serving Peter Bruff Avenue. There will be 6 journeys in each direction. Click here to view
84 Sudbury – Colchester

More buses will serve  Assington, Leavenheath, Stoke by Nayland and Nayland which are funded by Suffolk CC’s Bus Service Improvement Plan funding and the HM Government. Additional journeys on both Mondays to Fridays, and Saturdays too!

97/98 Walton – Clacton Revised Sunday timetable in operation to improve punctuality. Some journeys will depart earlier, so please check the timetable for further details. Click here to view
136/137 Shopping Village – Clacton Revised Sunday timetable in operation to improve punctuality. New Monday to Saturday evening journey departing Clacton, Pier Avenue to the Shopping Village at 23:00. There will also be an additional journey both early morning and late afternoon from Clacton to the Shopping Village. Click here to view

94/94A/94B Basildon – South Woodham Ferrers This route will now be operated by NIBS.  

Withdrawn Routes

Essex County Council has made the decision to withdraw the below routes due to low passenger usage.

99 Clacton – Walton on the Naze
