Generation Go! Workshop in Suffolk at Ormiston Sudbury Academy
8 months ago
On Thursday 23rd May 2024, Hedingham and Chambers delivered the first Generation Go! Workshop in Suffolk at Ormiston Sudbury Academy. A lively group of around 30 Year 10 students attended, many of whom have secured work experience placements for July and are planning their travel arrangements.
The workshop consisted of our Generation Go! presentation, which covers useful tips on how to use the bus, being respectful onboard, and buying tickets, planning journeys and tracking buses on our app and website. Following the workshop Hedingham and Chambers is providing all participants with a free week’s Anywhere ticket on the app to use for their work experience, or simply to put their new skills into practice over the summer on one of our Great Days Out By Bus. One student commented: ‘I didn't know there was an app you could download and find out live travel information - this will be really helpful in the future when I need to use the bus’. The children were also provided with a supporting activity to plan journeys to Bury St Edmunds and Colchester using our app or website, which will help them when need to do this independently in future.
The school’s Career Advisor, Helen Boreham, said: 'This was a really helpful workshop to support our students become more independent and confident when using public transport’.
This was a lovely opportunity for us to meet the students on our Sudbury network and we are looking forward to working with other students from Ormiston Sudbury Academy in future.
